世界食料デー Sekai Shokuryō Dē World Food Day

October 16 is World Food Day—a day to think about how everyone can have enough to eat.

Food connects growers, communities and the people who need it. Today’s Japanese term invites us to value food and consider who has access to it.

Language note: 世界 (sekai) means “world”; 食料 (shokuryō), food or food supplies; デー (dē) is the borrowed word “day.”

Food becomes a shared responsibility when we ask where it goes and who receives it.

Practice: 食べ物を大切にして、必要な人に届けよう。 Tabemono o taisetsu ni shite, hitsuyō na hito ni todokeyō. Let's value food and get it to people who need it.
